Beloved TV Show Based in Minnesota Gets a Reboot on Netflix
I think almost everyone of a particular age knows the show Little House on the Prairie. Whether you watched it on the regular, or you just heard about it. It's something that is very familiar, especially to people here in Minnesota.
THE ORIGINAL SERIES HAD THE FAMILY CROWDING AROUND THE TV WEEKLY
Little House on the Prairie was based on the books written in the 1930s by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The books told the story of her pioneer childhood on the American frontier, starting in Wisconsin and moving through Kansas, Minnesota, and the Dakota Territory, detailing her family's life, hardships, and adventures. The original TV Show ran from 1974 to 1983. The original cast featured Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls Wilder, Michael Landon as Charles Ingalls, Karen Grassle as Caroline Ingalls and Melissa Sue Anderson as Mary Ingalls. Twins Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush both played Carrie Ingalls.
A NEW AND REIMAGINED SERIES IS COMING TO NETFLIX IN JULY
Now, the show is getting a reboot on Netflix with an entirely new cast.
THERE WILL BE SOME CHANGES - WILL THEY BE THAT SIGNIFICANT
With the show being reimagined, and looks like the only characters that will be the same - or somewhat the same is the Ingalls family. Although it also looks like there is no Carrie - at least not yet. Just Ma and Pa and Mary and Laura. That's it - for now. The general store, or the Mercantile as it was in the original series, will be run by a new family - not the Olsons.
We'll see how this one plays out. I would at least check it out. But I might be jaded because of the original series. People who aren't familiar with that one might really like this on. I'm willing to give it a whirl.
