Growing up in Minnesota, we do take some things for granted.  We know how to pronounce all the towns, rivers, lakes, etc.  But when you are from some where else, pronouncing towns that we think are easy to pronounce, like DUH, are not as easy for someone who isn't as familiar.

VIKINGS HAVE NEW PLAYERS - LET'S SEE IF THEY CAN PRONOUNCE THESE TOWNS

Of course, the Vikings have some new players - new to Minnesota too.  So, it's always fun to see if they are able to pronounce some of the towns in the area that we think are super easy to pronounce.

Let's see how they did...

I had this issue too when I moved away from this state and to another.  Every state has the things that they think are completely normal, and to newcomers it's not so normal.  There is a town over by Green Bay, Wisconsin that is spelled Sobieski.  So, you know how I pronounced that, right?  WRONG!  In Wisconsin, it's pronounced So-Bisky.  I guess I messed that up.  Whoops!

TV SHOWS TEND TO MESS UP TOO - EVEN IF "FROM" MINNESOTA

I also remember the original show 90210 when the Walsh family was supposed to be from Minnesota.  In one episode, Brenda Walsh says that she was the (whatever) champion of Why- Zah -ta.  Ok.  If you are supposed to be FROM this state, maybe do some research regarding the pronunciation of towns that are quite well known in the state.

I know, casting can be tough - but you still need to do your research.
