Oakland, Anderson Down Twins 4-1

Oakland starter Brett Anderson silenced the Twins for 7 innings in the A’s 4-1 win over the Twins in Oakland Tuesday night.  Anderson allowed just 4 hits and 1 earned run in 7 innings to get the win.  This was his first start since coming back from elbow surgery.  Cole DeVries allowed 6 hits and 2 earned runs allowed in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 2-5.

Ben Revere scored the lone Twins’ run on a wild pitch in the 1st inning.  Minnesota managed only 4 hits for the game.  The Twins close out the 3-game series at Oakland at 2:35 this afternoon, pregame on WJON at 2:05.  Righthander Liam Hendriks (0-5) gets the start on the  mound for the Twins and lefthander Tommy Milone (9-9) toes the rubber for the A’s.

The twins announced that righthander Carl Pavano is out for the year because of a bruised shoulder.  Pavano has been out since early June.  Pavano is 36 years old and was 2-5 with a 6.00 ERA in 2012.
