This is always the question that has been around for years.  You all load into the car and try and figure out which restaurant you are going to go to along with the kids.  Of course, the kids usually want some sort of fast food.  The adults usually want something a litlle more of a "sit - down" type of restaurant. But which one has the best deal and good food.  No one wants to break the band, but also no one wants bad food either.

WHICH RESTAURANT PEOPLE CHOOSE MIGHT DEPEND HIGHLY ON THEIR AGE

When you look at ages of people going out to eat, which restaurant they prefer will be quite different.

A survey of Boomers, Gen Xers and some Millennials was done and it looks like Olive Garden won over Texas Roadhouse and Applebees as the top favorite.  We all know that over the years, there have been complaints regarding Olive Garden. Ranging from lacking taste, slow service, but the breadstick deal is always a draw.

Olive Garden's score of 33.8% among boomers was the highest among any age group, but that doesn't necessarily mean Olive Garden is just a spot for older generations. It also took the top spot for Gen X and millennials. Olive Garden was most considered among 45- to 64-year-olds and 30- to 44-year-olds, and ranked 30% for those age groups.

When it comes to Gen Z, they like something a bit different. Their choice of fast food goes to Chick-Fil-A and their choice for a sit-down restaurant is Chili's.  And now that is back in Minnesota.  The closest Chili's to St. Cloud is in Plymouth.

WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO GENERATION Z IN A RESTAURANT

The most important things that Gen Z looks for is mostly fast service and low prices while still having food that tastes good.  Probably what most people look for, but the price might be higher on the list when compared to the older generations.

Gen Z is much more inclined to buy specialty beverages and also snack more.  They prefer to eat several smaller meals throughout the day rather than the traditional large meal for dinner.

WHAT MAKES OLIVE GARDEN SO POPULAR

There are a few reasons why Olive Garden is popular.  It's still highly considered as a great date night spot.  It's also considered as a great "special occasion" destination, as well as very family friendly.

So, depending on what is important to you, and possibly your age, will determine which restaurant you choose for you night out to eat.
