I have heard so much lately about people getting scammed.  It used to just be the elderly that seemed to get caught up in these scams, but the scammers have gotten a lot smarter and it's starting to happen to a lot more people. To the point where banks are implementing a lot more security steps just to access your own accounts.

Honeslty, if these scammers put as much of their obvious online talent into an actual job, they could make a lot more money - legally.  Or, maybe help out companies with expertise to help them with the security walls.

SECURITY STEPS HAVE BEEN RAMPING UP LATELY

Anyway, logging onto my online banking today I had to go through double verification using both my laptop AND my phone.  Then, verify again the same way in order to transfer any funds from one account to another.  This didn't used to be the case; even like two weeks ago.  This is new.  Even though it's a pain, it's much better than being possibly scammed out of the money that you have in the bank.

PAY CLOSER ATTENTION THE CLOSER WE GET TO THE HOLIDAYS

As we get closer to the holidays, and people traveling more over the winter months taking some vacations to some place warmer, the scams could ramp up even more.  People are out shopping more, or shopping online more, and just using more online services to get what they want.  This can bring on more and more opportunities for a would be scammer.

NEVER CLICK ON A LINK THAT YOU AREN'T SURE ABOUT

You should always be vigilant and watch your online banking as much as possible. The next time you log on, and you have to go through mulitple verifications in order to get to where you need to go, just be glad that they have put these policies in place.  It is for your own protection.  And it's probably never a good idea to click a link that is sent to you via text if you weren't expecting that.
