I love progressive rock with a passion. Rush, King Crimson, Tool, Porcupine Tree, the list goes on and on. I know it’s a bit of a cop-out to say that I’m a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I am. Now, there are people who CLAIM to be Pink Floyd fans, who simply aren’t. Sorry, but just because you bought a t-shirt with the Dark Side of the Moon logo on it when you were 16 and can name 2 of their albums does not make you a fan.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have the real die-hards.People like us realize that there’s something special about Floyd’s music that almost changes you into a different person after having a proper listening experience (which is with the lights of and with your speaker cranked all the way up, and listening to one album from start to finish in its entirety, either by yourself or with one or two close friends. This is music that should be used for personal introspection, not for partying.

Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about the release of Pink Floyd's upcoming box set. On November 29th, they're releasing a 16 disk box set which will be featuring material and performances from 1987 onward. I'll admit, my favorite era of Pink Floyd was the Roger Waters era, but they still made some killer music even after her left. "Pink Floyd: The Later Years" will sport five cds, six blue ray disks, and five dvds. I'm stoked.
