Last week, I told you that Freddie Mercury’s resting place may have been discovered. Now, greedy fans may have stolen his grave marker.

The UK’s Daily Mirror is reporting that Freddie Mercury's marker at Kensal Green Cemetery in West London is gone.

The plaque read, “In Loving Memory of Farrokh Bulsara. Pour Etre Toujours Pres De Toi Avec Tout Mon Amour. –M.” The French inscription translates to “Always To Be Close To You With All My Love” and the M? Many believe it to be Mary Austin, his former girlfriend whom he remained close with after they split.

There are two theories on this one: Either some rabid fan came along and stole the marker to keep for themselves; or, Mary asked the cemetery to remove it after it was discovered and she kept it. Hopefully it’s the latter.

Freddie was cremated after he passed away in 1991 and Mary is the only one who knows what was done with Freddie’s ashes. She has gone on record saying that she would never, ever reveal his final resting place as he was a fiercely private person and Mary says she intends to keep her word.
