There have been numerous rumours regarding Van Halen over the past year, concerning both in studio and live performance wise.

They are, apparently, penciled in to perform at the first annual Soundwave Festival in Australia in September.

Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti, a friend of both Eddie and Wolfgang Van Halen, claimed recently he had been to the Van Halen home and was allowed to hear their new album with David Lee Roth.

Tremonti said it's "vintage Van Halen".

It's traditionally hard to read the group as far as their future plans go but the rumoured new album seems to be growing legs existence-wise.

The group's producer, Ross Hogart, recently spoke with Ultimate-Guitar.com regarding his work on the project.

"The whole Van Halen record has been recorded and we're all excited. We have just started mixing the record. I'm really stoked about it, as it is the original band, Eddie (Van Halen, guitar) and Alex (Van Halen, drums) with Wolf (Eddie's son) playing bass, and David Lee Roth singing, it's the killing side of Van Halen at the top of their game again with Diamond Dave, and the band on fire."

"Vintage" Van Halen is of course setting the bar astronomically high but all we can do is hope for now.
