For years now, we have all been complaining about the red light runners in St. Cloud and the surrounding area.  It's crazy.  The amount of people who run a red light is getting out of control and it's very dangerous.  It's getting to the point that when you get a green light, you still need to look both ways and wait a few seconds before you go for fear of someone blasting through the intersection.

HOW COULD IT GET WORSE

You may ask that question - how could this possibly get any worse?  It's pretty scary when you are waiting to cross Hwy 15 and you get a green light, and then a semi plows through the intersection right in front of you.  That is scary.  Worse?  Well, it could be worse if you are focused on any sort of road rage and get a little concerned as to what may happen when someone is that upset on the road.

What has been happening is that if you are a person who actually follows the rules of the road and when the light turns yellow and you don't have time to get through the intersection before the light turns red, you actually stop.  That's not the issues, unless, of course, you are someone behind that person and were expecting to go through the light regardless.

I have had that happen.  The light turned yellow, I knew I didn't have time to make it through the intersection before the light turned red, or even before I got to the intersection.  The light was red when I got there.  I stopped.  The guy behind me lost his perverbial sh**.  You would have thought that I had really caused a major issue.  If I wasn't going to make it thorough the light, he DEFINITELY wasn't going to make it through.

EXPECTATION

The red light runners in St. Cloud have gotten so bad that people expect to get at least one to two cars though an intersection when the light is red.  Like they just expect it to happen.  And it happens so often that I cannot imagine the local police never seeing this.

Just because I have not seen anyone pulled over for that reason, does not mean they aren't being pulled over.  But it's happening so often that it does make one wonder.
