I love the state fair. And it's fun to go to the State Fair, I only go to the fair once every other year.  The price has gone up this year too - $2 more per person.  The extra charge is to go to needed maintenance and other needs around the fairgrounds.  I bought tickets at the end of last year because that is when they are the cheapest.  It's just a one day deal, and you can use the tickets for any day of the fair.

If you still want a deal on your tickets and don't want to pay full price, pay attention to the special discount days that run sporatically throughout the 12 days of the state fair.

If you love the state fair and you would like to have more than just those 12 days of the fair at the end of August until Labor Day, you have another opportunity with the Minnesota State Fair Kickoff to Summer!

Save the Dates

The Kickoff to Summer happens the weekend leading up to Memorial Day.  May 22-25.  Memorial Day is May 26th this year.

What Can You Expect

This slice-of-the-fair event features more food and fun things to do than ever before – but with the laid-back patio vibe we all love about Minnesota summers. Favorite fair food and brews at nearly 40 vendors, music and entertainment free with admission, shopping at 20+ specialty Minnesota merchants, Giant Slide rides, yard games, history tours, free parking, and so much more! Plus, the ever-popular Milk Run 5K Race will take place Saturday, May 24 at 9 a.m.

So it's almost like a mini-fair.  I'm totally ok with that.  Hopefully the weather cooperates.  Remember last year when it rained so much in the beginning of the summer.  I think it rained almost every day at some point of the day in June.  Yuck.

There is a schedule of events for each day of the kickoff to Summer.

Attendance is limited for each day of the kickoff, so getting tickets ahead of time (they are free) would be key.  Those announcements are scheduled to be announced in the beginning of April.
