SCTCC Welcomes New Students With Expanded Programs And Support
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- It is the first day of classes for the students at the St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

President Lori Kloos says enrollment is up about six-and-a-quarter percent this fall compared to last fall.
So that's 245 students more enrolled for this fall than were enrolled last fall. That's pretty much across the board on campus; programs are either remaining steady or they are increasing in enrollment.
Most of the students come from the five-county region, with many students choosing to drive to campus each day. However, Kloos says they do help the students find housing if they need an apartment to stay in while they are in school. And, some live on campus at St. Cloud State University while they are enrolled at SCTCC.
We have some students who live on St. Cloud State's campus in their residence halls because their goal is to transfer over to St. Cloud State when they complete their AA here.
Kloos says they've expanded their dental hygiene program this year.
We've added a couple of seats, and we've got brand new chairs; they are high technology.
She says their highest demand program is the Liberal Arts Transfer Studies.
About half of our student population are pursuing that AA degree, and our largest transfer-out institution they are going to St. Cloud State University.
Kloos says their health sciences, business, and skilled training industry programs are all in high demand.
Next fall, SCTCC will start offering the Aircraft Maintenance Technician program with a cohort of up to 24 students.
Kloos invites the community to come watch the Cyclones volleyball team in their home opener on Wednesday at the Whitney Recreation Center. The volleyball team is ranked seventh in the nation.
