#13 St. John's (10-2) football season ended today at the hands of #4 Wartburg College (12-0) in Waverly, IA with the Johnnies falling 21-10 in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The #18 Minnesota Gophers (8-4) ended their regular season with a 34-24 loss to #14 Wisconsin (10-2) in Madison, and now await a bowl invitation.

With the Johnnies leading 10-7, Wartburg College rolled off two touchdown-scoring drives in the fourth quarter to advance with the 21-7 win. The Johnnies are expected to return 16 starters (eight on offense, six on defense and both special-teams specialists) next fall.

The Badgers rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to earn the 34-24 win -- retaining Paul Bunyan's Axe for the 11th straight year, and claiming the Big Ten Western Division title; and berth in the Big Ten Championship game vs. Ohio State next Saturday in Indianapolis.

Next up for the Gophers: A bowl bid in an upper tier bowl, projected by ESPN as possibly the National University Holiday Bowl December 27th in San Diego, or the TaxSlayer Bowl January 2nd in Jacksonville, Florida.
