I’ve only lived in Minnesota since September of 2023, but there’s one thing I’ve realized about Minnesotans, we care about each other and are willing to support causes that are in need.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of places that need a helping hand. So much so that it becomes somewhat overwhelming for people around the state, and they may be more selective or just choose not to contribute to any cause.

Most people around the country say they don’t mind giving back if they know that their efforts are going to be making an impact locally, or if they can personally, or directly see the impact that is being made.

If you find yourself in that category, I’ve got just the opportunity for you. Special Olympics of Minnesota is looking for volunteers, and this is one way you will for sure be able to see the impact your time has on the athletes around Minnesota.

There's More Than One Way To Get Involved

Special Olympics Minnesota says they have a full schedule of events this month and in August, and they’re always looking for someone to come along and become a volunteer.

There are a variety of roles they need help with, and the good news is, you don’t have to have previous experience either in volunteering or in athletic competitions to join their team.

There are several events in several areas around Minnesota, so odds are you aren’t far from an event that you could donate some time to.

Being a Special Olympics Volunteer is a great way for church groups, friends, or a group of your co-workers to get connected to the community you live and play in.

Kids ages 11-14 are also welcome as long as they have a chaperone/parent/guardian with them.

Special Olympics Minnesota is also looking for Coaches to work with their athletes as well. Your time commitment is one to three hours per week during a season which can last eight to twelve weeks.

Reach out to Special Olympics to discover how you could help and I’m guessing you’ll probably get as much if not more than you give.
