During a multi-continent media event yesterday, Marvel Studios revealed the first full length trailer for the new Amazing Spider-Man 3-D reboot due this summer (7/3). The trailer made it online early this morning and is quickly becoming the talk of movie buffs everywhere.

As reported by Superhero-Hype yesterday,

... the satellite feed first went out to Los Angeles where director Marc Webb was on-hand, then to Rio de Janeiro, who got Emma Stone (those lucky Brazilians) and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, London got Rhys Ifans aka Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard, and New York got Spider-Man himself, Andrew Garfield, who was received with huge cheers.

The event not only gave a look at the first trailer, but also revealed glimpses of the villain; The Lizard. Not a lot was shown of Dr. Conners in his reptilian form, but it's obvious the entire 'creature' is being done CG. The trailer also brings into question just how closely the film's storytellers are sticking to the origin story of your friendly neighborhood Web-head.

Apparently in this 'new' vision, Peter Parker's father worked for Oscorp and was an associate of Dr. Curt Conners (aka The Lizard), which is grossly inaccurate from the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko comic.

Fan-boys are sure to be up in arms about not only this liberty, but with several other missteps in the story. Including the pivotal moment where Puny Peter becomes Spidey. One good change from the Sam Raimi take, is the inclusion of mechanical web-shooters, designed by Pete himself. (This is one of the main problems I had with the first 3 films.)

Take a look at the trailer and you tell me: Are you excited for the new film? Or are you like me and wondering why they screwed with an already good thing?
