It's that time of year - time for all sorts of things for Halloween fun.  If you stop into any of the big box stores you will find lots of Halloween candy, decorations, costumes, and orange and black dessert type things.  Cookies, cupcakes, snacks and more.

Also, it's time for McDonalds to roll out this year's Boo Buckets!

This year, the Boo Buckets will be available beginning on October 15th.  The buckets replace the Happy Meal boxes that you would normally get at other times of the year. This year there is a little bit of a twist.  Instead of the buckets being in the design of some of the classic monsters, like the mummy, vampire, Frankenstein, and a skeleton, the buckets are more generic and kids can decorate them as they would like with stickers that are included.  Also, one of the colors has changed.  They still have the white, orange and green.  But instead of the purple one, now there is a blue one.

These buckets are great because first, you get a Happy Meal of your choice, and then they can use the buckets for Trick or Treating.  And if you fill up one with candy, then just switch to another color... collect all 4 so now there are choices.

The Boo Buckets have been around for awhile, but not every year.

McDonald's brought back Boo Buckets as a nostalgic nod in 2022 for the first time since 2016. McDonald's first sold the decorated plastic buckets in 1986 and have only brought them back sporadically since.

They have been around for the last few years, and hopefully they will continue for each year to come.  They are popular and fun for the season.

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
