The Aerosmith front man is a local hero after saving the day that would have otherwise been a rain out.

It was Steven Tyler to the rescue recently in Scituate, Massachusetts.

The town's Heritage Days Festival Concert was almost a wash out due to the weather, but Tyler surprised everyone by putting on a show. He took to social media, announced what he was doing and people showed up by the thousands.

According to the Aerosmith website, Tyler joined forces with Brad Whitford and did two songs with a local blues band. He also sang two songs with headliners The Family Stone and when the shows were over, he took time to hang with fans.

In other Aerosmith news, yesterday it was reported that Tom Hamilton had recently undergone surgery to treat tongue and throat cancer. Hamilton is now speaking out against the claims and says that it's old news and he actually had the surgery in 2009.

Aerosmith is currently in the studio working on a new album. No word yet on a release date, but guitarist Jow Perry says that they, "have a pile of good songs to work on."
