Should surveillance cameras be used against the employees, after all the biggest losses are from employees thefts.

Believe it or not roughly one out every 40 employees will get arrested for theft and prosecuted by their employer.  Employees steal 5.5 times more than shoplifters, of the many jobs I've had in retail, orientation films prior to day one of the job lay out the facts.

Some tips to loss prevention that could help:

  • Monitor trash
  • Get rid of the bad apples at work
  • Use a buddy type system
  • Employee tip line
  • Surveillance cameras/or a virtual eye
  • Getting to know your employees will deter theft
