St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis revealed his 2023 budget plan Monday night at the city council meeting. He made clear revitalizing the downtown is a top priority and to accomplish this he'd like to add housing. Kleis says they currently have 300 housing units downtown which includes subsidized housing, rentals and market rate housing.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony will reopen downtown St. Cloud's 5th Avenue to traffic. The event will take place on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. outside the Metro Transit Station on the corner of 1st Street South and 5th Avenue South.
Moving can be expensive and one St. Cloud non-profit organization is getting some financial help. Nearly a month ago, The Village Family Service Center moved into its new spot in downtown St. Cloud between Perkins and Ole Brick House on 6th Avenue North.
A major downtown St. Cloud street project is nearing completion, but it is going to take a little bit longer than originally thought. St. Cloud City Engineer Steve Foss says the 5th Avenue project was originally scheduled to be done by next Friday, the day before the big 'Takin' It To The Streets' concert.
