Even diehard fans of HBO’s Scorsese-Jagger driven Vinyl knew that Season 2 would bring about some significant changes, but it looks like the record skipped after all. Despite setting a new showrunner after a formal Season 2 renewal, HBO has officially abandoned plans for Vinyl, effectively cancelling the prestigious flop.

Lord knows we’ve missed the genius of Jon Stewart’s late-night voice in these troubled times, and it’s been some time since HBO signed the former Daily Show host to a four-year development deal. We wouldn’t expect Stewart to suit up again behind a desk just yet, but HBO now believes the late-night veteran will return to active TV duty just in time for the 2016 election.

HBO Now is good for many things: for catching up on those shows you’ve been missing, for watching films exclusively airing on the premium network (including pretty much all the Police Academy movies, if that’s your thing, sure), for using your parents’ password to take advantage of their disposable income… But there’s something else the streaming service has that you won’t find anywhere else: a seven-hour cut of the first two Godfather films, edited in chronological order. If you have the day off, now might be a good time to indulge in such a thing.

The ending to HBO's magnum TV opus 'The Sopranos' has remained a source of debate over the last seven years, as fans and viewers analyze every sound and frame of series finale "Made in America" for a clue to Tony Soprano's ultimate fate. Now, despite a near-decade of refusals, series creator David Chase may finally have revealed if Tony Soprano lived or died.

Few would argue that HBO's 'True Blood' has been limping to the finish with its final season, but the last bit of blood will finally drop on August 24 with series finale installment "Thank You." To wit, HBO has released their spoilery synopsis for the finale, along with a brand new look at this Sunday's penultimate installment, "Love is to Die."

True to its namesake, HBO's 'True Detective' has remained a mystery through development of season 2, as series creator Nic Pizzolatto seems to shoot down rumor after rumor about casting and character. The series has attracted controversy for lacking much of a female perspective, and that's something that may continue to circle the show as it seems the new season of 'True Detective' may again focus

Among the many losses to occur following actor James Gandolfini's death, HBO opted to move forward with its 'Criminal Justice' miniseries with Robert De Niro stepping into Gandolfini's leading role. Now, even more change is afoot as De Niro exited production and will in fact be replaced by 'Transformers' franchise star John Turturro.

HBO Sundays will get a bit more prestigious tonight with the debut of 'The Newsroom' season 2, but you needn't wait until the evening hours for one of the hottest previews of the fall! 'Boardwalk Empire' season 4 will pour out this September, and from the looks of the full trailer debuting on TV tonight, Nucky Thompson is in for his most dangerous year on the boardwalk yet.
