Yesterday we all stood still and watched as yet, another mass shooting happened.  We know who the shooter was, and he was a very disturbed young man.  Instead of pointing fingers at anyone and talking about why this happened, how it could have been avoided, and who should take the real responsibility, I would rather focus on a hero.

When you send your kids off to school, you trust that they will be protected.  That they are safe.  That they are somewhere they can learn and go out into the world a better person, and ready to take on any task that they are handed.

We depend on our teachers, administration, peers, and yes, coaches.

This story is focusing on one coach in particular.  Assistant football coach, Aaron Feis.  Aaron Feis was a man of some stature.  And also worked as a part time security monitor.

He stepped in front of the line of fire in order to protect some students around him.  One student mentioned that Feis pushed her out of the way, and jumped inbetween her and another student to shield them from the line of fire, and away from the shooter.

He was taken to the hospital, and later died from his injuries, but others live because of this man.  Kids.  As tragic as this is, it's comforting to know that there are people in this world who would jump in front of a shooter... take a literal bullet for someone else.

Aaron Feis, before yesterday, you were thought of as a part time security monitor and an assistant football coach .  Let you now be remembered as Aaron Feis, the hero.
