Target Stores Nationwide To Expand Active Shooter Training Sessions

Target will now be training all it's employees how to respond in an active shooter situation. Initially they were just going to train just select leaders and security workers, but now the training will be provided to all employees at Target stores, distribution centers, and business headquarters.

Target released the following statement; "The training follows the guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is something we've provided to our security teams for many years. At Target, the safety of our guests and team members is our top priority."

The company said it reviews their emergency response and training every year and started updated training between October and August of this year. All new target employees will receive the active shooter training and current employees will revisit the training annually .

Walmart is also another large retail business that offers this type of training to employees. As consumers we need to be aware of our surroundings as well, if you see something suspicious tell someone.
