The Doors released a newly discovered song on their Facebook page today at 11am. Their long-time co-producer Bruce Botnick discovered the track, titled She Smells So Nice while he was reviewing tapes for the 40th anniversary deluxe version of L.A. Woman.

The two-disc Rhino reissue will have 8 alternate takes on classics from the album including Love Her Madly, Riders on the Storm and the title track.

The upcoming release and DVD will begin the band's Year of the Doors.

A press release from The Doors reveals much more about the DVD/Blue Ray ;

“Mr. Mojo Risin’: The Story of L.A. Woman” (Eagle Rock Entertainment) is told through new interviews with MANZAREK, KRIEGER and DENSMORE as well as Elektra Records founder JAC HOLZMAN, original manager Bill Siddons, engineer/co-producer Bruce Botnick and others.  The high-definition video also features live and studio performances as well as rare archival photos.  This fascinating documentary contains rare footage of The Doors in the studio and on stage.  The documentary was made with the full involvement, approval and cooperation of The Doors."

The song, embedded below has the classic feel of a Doors tune, but not necessarily one of their hits. It sounds more like something from their debut release and is much more blues based than the more 'produced' and ethereal tracks on L.A. Woman. It's obvious that the engineers were absent from the recording booth while Jim was doing vocals, as parts are over-modulated and distorted.

The L.A. Woman reissue drops January 24th.
