If you were looking for the best college town in the country, and you live in Minnesota, you don't have to look too far. The 2nd best college town in the country is in our state.

Schools.com analyzed data from 170 college towns with a population of less than 150,000 residents around the country, to see where the best opportunity for students would be to live.

They looked at different factors to come up with this list, which included: Entertainment options, the number of young adults living there, unemployment rate, and median cost to rent. Based on that data, they found the following cities to be in the top 5 in the country, including Mankato, Minnesota! Here's the top 5 list...

  1. Ithaca, New York - Cornell University
  2. Mankato, Minnesota - Minnesota State University, South Central College, Bethany Lutheran College, and Rasmussen College
  3. Bozeman, Montana - Montana State University, Bozeman
  4. Minot, North Dakota - Minot State University
  5. Durango, Colorado - Fort Lewis College

Wo do have to give kudos to La Crosse, Wisconsin (University of Wisconsin-La Crosse), who was 17 on the list. I only mention them because they host man Minnesota students who want to be fairly close to home.

I personally haven't attended St. Cloud State University here in St. Cloud, but plenty of people here have attended school there. They're die-hard fans of their school and have stuck around this area for good reason. Even though St. Cloud didn't make the list, I'm still proud to say I live here and have Husky pride. There's just something is the water here that does that to you...
