This time of year you see all kinds of celebrations of Oktoberfest.  The festivities include stein holding contests, German themed music, German foods, German beers and a whole lot more!

Some of these celebrations are more elaborate than others.  For instance, the celebration for Oktoberfest in New Ulm lasts for two weekends in October.  But at least it is IN October, not September.  So, you do have the option to attend that one, as well as the celebrations that happen at the end of September.

That is the case with St. Joseph's Rocktoberfest celebration.  This is St. Joe's version of Oktoberfest.

The online pre-sale for the event has begun.  You can get tickets in advance now on their website.  They are just $7 plus a $1.35 processing fee.  Everywhere tickets are sold there is a processing fee.  But at least this one is fairly small.

If you have never been to Rocktoberfest, here is what you can expect:

We invite you Downtown St. Joseph for Rocktoberfest on Saturday, September 30th from 3:00 to 11:00 pm! Join us in the open air or underneath the massive 12,000 square-foot heated tent to enjoy a variety of German and Minnesota brews and delicious German food. Challenge yourself with the always entertaining steinholding contests, some axe throwing or just relax listening to the musical talents of the Bavarian Musikmeisters and Rhino. This 21+ event is a night you won’t want to miss!

It's a celebration of the very deep German heritage here in Central Minnesota.

The great thing is that you can choose to spend the entire time at the festival, or you can just come and go as you wish.  You may not want to participate in all of the events, or not have the time for all of them, but at least try and check out some of it.  It's a great time!
