Central Minnesota is fortunate to have a few athletes competing in the London Olympics. The opening ceremonies are this Friday night, then the athletes will be getting down to business. So when will we need to be paying attention to how our local athletes are doing?  Here’s what you need to know.

Lindsay Whalen is a Hutchinson native, played for the  Gopher Women’s Basketball, and is current member of the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. Whalen’s a member of the USA Women’s Basketball Team.

They play their first game at 12:45 p.m. our time on Saturday, July 28th.

Amanda Smock is a Melrose native competing in the Triple Jump in Track and Field.

Preliminaries are at 4:25 a.m. our time on Friday, August 3rd.  If she qualifies for the finals, they’ll be held on Sunday, August 5th at 1:35 p.m.

Chas Betts is a St. Michael native competing in the 185 pound weight class in Greco Roman Wrestling.

His opening match will be at 7:00 a.m. our time on Monday, August 6th.  All of his matches will be on August 6th.

Alise Post is a St. Cloud native competing in the  BMX Bike Competition.

Her first race will be at 9:00 a.m. our time on Wednesday, August 8th.  The finals are at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10th.
