TV Commercials Are Bastardizing My Favorite Classic Rock Songs
I know you've probably noticed this, too. You're watching TV and a commercial comes on using one of your favorite classic rock songs.
I remember one pick up truck commercial years ago that used Bob Seger's "Like a Rock". I thought, how could Seger allow such a thing? But I guess I get it. I'm sure he was paid a handsome sum of cash for the use of his song. I remember the commercial using the song but I can't tell you which truck they were trying to get me to buy.
I can only guess which other songs will pop up in an ad. maybe The Rolling Stones "Start Me Up" for a coffee commercial or Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" for a laxative. How about Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" for a cereal commercial? AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" for septic tank cleaner would be a good one.
The possibilities are endless. Just depends on who decides to lend their tunes to the advertising world.
