Twins Beat Brewers In 15 Innings
The Twins downed Milwaukee 5-4 in 15 innings Sunday. Denard Span had the game-winning RBI single in the 15th inning to win in. Span was 4-8 with a run and 1 RBI on the day. Joe Mauer was 3-4 with 2 RBIs but left the game early with a bruised right quadriceps. Jame Carroll was 4-7 with 2 runs and 1 RBI for the Twins. Nick Blackburn started the game and allowed 9 hits and 4 earned runs in 6 innings and didn’t figure in the final decision. Anthony Swarzak threw a scoreless 15th inning to get the win.
The Twins are 26-39 and will get the day off Monday before starting a 3-game series in Pittsburgh Tuesday night at 6:05, pregame on WJON at 5:35. Lefthander Scott Diamond (5-2) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Kevin Correia (2-6) toes the rubber for the Pirates.
