During the pandemic, a lot of folks revaluated their lives. They took a long look at what made them happy and if they weren’t doing the things that made them happy, how would they get to that point?

One of the biggest areas people focused on was their jobs. For some people, their jobs ended because of the coronavirus. But some other people decided to make a change on their own.

If you’re looking at your job and thinking it’s not what you want to be doing, have you thought about trucking? There’s still shortage of men and women to move products around the country, and there are opportunities out there.

I found an article on the website truckdriverrights.com, and it went in depth about the reasons there’s a shortage. The causes range from being an industry that is predominantly filled with older drivers. The article says that 12% truck drivers are below 25.

Other reasons there's a shortage of truck drivers include the industry regulations being strict, and the lifestyle being away from home can be hard for some people to do.

Not every job takes you away from home or forces you to be gone every weekend. I did a quick search on Indeed.com and searched for truck drivers in Minnesota. There were many opportunities posted in the last week. Some of the positions were paid by the hour for local-regional runs to others that paid above the $100,000 per year mark for over-the-road drivers.

After doing a quick google search of truck driving schools, there are several opportunities in Minnesota if you want to pursue a career in trucking. Some companies offer paid training. You could also check with companies you might have an interest in driving for. Drivers can be on the road and working after four weeks of training.

This isn’t to say there aren’t challenges in the industry, but if it were to fit into your life as it is right now, there’s money to be made and a future to be had behind the wheel of a big rig.
