If a world famous professional storm chaser comes to town, it's probably a good idea to batten down the hatches.

Author and extreme storm chaser Reed Timmer targeted severe weather in northern Minnesota - my old stomping grounds - last week, and came away with footage of a BIG-TIME TORNADO. It's a trip to see roads I've casually driven hundreds of times appear in high-def storm footage.

Reed Timmer Chases Crosby/Crosslake-Area Tornadoes

If his name is familiar, that's because Reed Timmer was a co-star of Discovery Channel's Storm Chasers, which ran from 2007 to 2012. The show followed tornado alley storm chasers as they...well, chased storms. The footage was always amazing to see (from the comfort of my couch).

Timmer's been chasing tornadoes since 1998. He starred in the 2006 documentary Tornado Glory, and authored the book Into the Storm: Violent Tornadoes, Killer Hurricanes, and Death-Defying Adventures in Extreme Weather.

Dude knows storms. Check out the footage below.
