We Have a Winner, Actually 8 Winners for MN Snowplow Names

Yes, this was actually a contest.  It has been running for a few weeks, now.  The contest was to name snowplows for 8 Minnesota districts.  There were SO many names submitted. Then they were whittled down to 50 finalists.  Then, we were all to cast our votes for our favorite 8 names. Those would then be attached to 8 snowplows in 8 Minnesota districts.

The top vote getter... Plowy McPlowFace.  That one received over 65 thousand votes. Ok.  So that one is one of the eight.  The second most vote getter was Ope, Just Gonna Plow Right Past Ya. That one got over 29 thousand votes.  There were over 120 thousand votes that were cast in MNDOT's name a plow contest.  That's quite a bit for a contest that is just kind of silly.

And these are the winners and where they plow will be:

Duck Duck Orange Truck in District 1 (northeastern Minnesota); Plow Bunyan in District 2 (northwestern Minnesota); Snowbi Wan Kenobi in District 6 (southeastern Minnesota); F. Salt Fitzgerald in District 7 (south-central Minnesota); Darth Blader in District 3 (central Minnesota); and The Truck Formerly Known As Plow in District 8 (southwestern Minnesota).

Some of the submissions had a sort of political feel, and that just wasn't the place for that.  This was considered to be a "light hearted" contest, and political overtones probably wasn't the right place for this.  But the biggest take away from this fun contest is to just notice and thank your snow plow workers.  These men and women work many hours to make sure that our roads are as safe as possible during inclement weather.
