World’s Largest Pumpkin is in Anoka
How does this even happen? I have had pumpkin patches before growing in a regular garden, and nothing EVER gets this big. This is crazy. It was crazy enough to actually win the World Championship Pumpkin Weigh Off.
When you plant a seed, you don't expect this to happen, but according to a story from KARE, Travis Glenger planted a seed 6 months ago and watered the thing like 8-9 times a day. This seems like major over-watering, but apparently this is what it takes to make a pumpkin grow to this size. And other than entering a world weigh off championship, why else would you do that? And obviously it works. And this isn't the first time he's had a pumpkin grow to this enormous size. So, I guess he really does know what he's doing.

The giant pumpkin is officially named "Tiger King". Why that name? It stayed orange, which wasn't expected. Originally it looked like it might be more of a white-ish color. But since it stayed orange, the name seemed to fit.
Glenger said he doesn't keep track of the weight, either. He said it ruins the fun, so he is just as surprised as anyone else as to what the final weight will be. This time, the weight was off the charts! How can a pumpkin end up weighing an actual ton? Actually, a little over a ton as it weighed in at 2,350 pounds. Good Grief! How do you even move that thing to get it on a scale? Obviously something like a crane, right?
Think about being that champion grower for next year... goals, gotta have goals.
