A little bit of controversy going into the song, "The Great Gig in the Sky", Pink Floyd versus Clare Torry.Clare Torry is/was a session vocalist who demanded co-writing credit, yes received royalties for the song, however; the terms of the settlement weren't disclosed, she has been credited as a writer of the song and all and any reissue of the song since 2005.

"The Great Gig in the Sky" features Richard Wright's piano composition and accompanied by vocal work from Clare Torry. The audio below is from about two minutes forty seconds moving forward.

Clare had only been paid 30 Quid in 1973 for her brief studio session (which today is a little over $50.00) which at the time was double rate for being there on a Sunday. The years to come she realized her contribution was for the melody that hadn't been included in Rick Wright's instrumental composition.

In an interview with writer/critic John Harris she mentioned why she waited so long to file a lawsuit, "Over the years, people said to me on numerous occasions,'What are you going to do?' I did look into it and at first, the costs were prohibitively expensive...and also, if I started something when I was well into my career, I'd have been thought of as a troublemaker. So once I'd retired, I thought about it again and it went on from there."
