Paul McCartney’s Son Wants to Make a Band with Other Beatles Offspring

James McCartney, son of Sir Paul, recently came up with an idea. A good idea you ask? Well, we’ll leave that up to you. In a recent interview with the BBC, he talked about the possibility of forming a band with the other Beatle offspring. ‘The Beatles: The Next Generation’ so to speak.” Sean (Lennon) seemed to be into it, Dhani (Harrison) seemed to be into it.” McCartney said.  “I’d be happy to do it.”

We flip open a packet of cigarettes and consider the situation. If these four sons of Beatles were to give this a test drive, what it would sound like is anyone’s guess. Both Dhani (who looks so much like George) and Sean have been on their own musical paths for a while now, while James has done the occasional project with his famous father.

Ringo‘s son Zak has already had huge success as the drummer for both the Who and Oasis. And we must say, Zak is an excellent drummer (maybe even better than his dad…sshh don’t tell anyone we said that!)”I don’t think it’s something that Zak (Starkey) wants to do,” McCartney continued “Maybe Jason (another of Ringo’s sons) would want to do it. I’d be up for it.”

So it would seem the younger McCartney is into it. At age 34, he is trying to establish a musical career of his own, but it seems he keeps trying on dad’s clothes. One such outfit includes an upcoming performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

James says he wants to “embrace the Beatles legacy rather than running away from it.” And what of poor Julian Lennon — did James not want the elder offspring of Lennon, who did have his own short-lived success in the ’80s, on board? Overall, is this a good idea, a bad idea or none of the above? All we can say is “goo goo ga joob’.”
