ST. CLOUD -- A suspect wanted in connection to a murder in Chicago was found and arrested in St. Cloud today (Wednesday).

The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force was asked on Monday to help the U.S. Marshal's Office find 22-year-old Kevin Mason, who was believed to have fled to the St. Cloud area following a murder in Chicago that occurred sometime within the past two weeks.

Commander Steve Soyka says authorities began watching a trailer at 57 Belmar Street in St. Cloud, where Mason was believed to be hiding out.

Officers spotted two people leave in a car and pulled them over in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue. The two people were relatives of Mason, both had active warrants and were arrested. One had juvenile warrants and the other, 34-year-old Shawanna Vaughn of Waite Park, had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Based on information gathered, officers returned to the trailer were Mason was arrested without incident. He is being held at Stearns County Jail where he is awaiting the extradition process.
