GARRISON -- Ice anglers will again be able to keep one walleye on Lake Mille Lacs again this winter season.

The Minnesota DNR has announced anglers will be able to keep one walleye between 19 and 21 inches, or one longer than 28 inches. This year's harvest slot is up slightly from last year's 18-20 inches.

Biologists met Tuesday to evaluate the walleye population and determined the conservation goal of preserving the 2013 year class was achieved with minimal fishing mortality. The DNR says it will allow for a modest winter harvest for walleye on Mille Lacs this ice fishing season.

The winter walleye season begins December 1st and extends through February 26th.
