Last week, a fire engulfed a pair of tour buses used by Foreigner, Styx and Don Felder on their continuing ‘Soundtrack of Summer‘ tour. Thankfully, no one was injured, and now the musicians are giving back to those who extinguished the flames.

Proceeds from the sale of ‘The Soundtrack of Summer’ CDs from the subequent July 3rd concert in Camden, New Jersey — a figure totaling some $10,000 — will be donated to the local Philadelphia Fire Department Local No. 22 Widows Fund on behalf of Styx, Foreigner and Rock to the Rescue. “It should be noted that the quick response from the Philadelphia fire department was the difference in stopping the fire in its tracks,” a press release reminds, “which meant the tour could continue on July 3 and not affect the rest of the shows.”

Released to coincide with their tour, the 17-song compilation features the original recordings of eight hits by both Foreigner and Styx, and a new recording of ‘Hotel California’ with Felder. An 18th cut, with all three acts performing ‘I Want to Know What Love Is,’ can be found as a bonus track on the iTunes and vinyl versions of the album.

Rock to the Rescue is a charity formed by Styx and REO Speedwagon devoted to building “strong, healthy communities through the support of grassroots causes across the country.” Run by Tommy Shaw‘s daughter Hannah, they made news last month when they helped save six black bears from being euthanized.

A few days after the fire, David Crosby stopped by to see the band’s July 4 show at in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where the above photo was taken. Crosby appears on Felder’s 2012 release, ‘Road to Forever.’
