Yahoo News recently published a story about a study in France that confirms what many people already knew -- that stuff they put into a diet soda to replace that sugar can be just as bad as the sugar itself.

...according to a new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, artificially sweetened drinks like diet soda are just as likely to lead to heart disease as the sugar-filled regular versions. - Yahoo News

But there are those that still go to a fast food joint, order some huuuge burger, a large french fry — and then follow that up with “can I get a diet soda?”

They’ve just ordered a couple of thousand calories of artery-clogging food but suddenly they seem to be hyper-aware that their beverage is unhealthy and it better not have sugar in it. Even though the chemicals that are used to replace that sugar is not a better option. That is the definition of not seeing the forest through the trees.

Now, this is not to say that people should go ahead and order that regular, sugar-filled soda/pop. It is meant to say that both regular and diet are bad.

Seriously, soda/pop is one of the worst things you can put in your body. I know the struggle. I used to pound two to three 20oz Mountain Dew's every day.

But there is this awesome thing called water -- in all it’s clean, clear, and refreshing glory, And it is the best thing you can drink. It's something many of us try to drink more of, but don’t always succeed. But it is the oil for our human body engine.

So instead of the soda or a diet soda, get a glass of water. Your body will thank you.
