As Minnesotans we feel our state IS the state of hockey - and for good reason too.  Hockey is in our blood, we eat, sleep, and play hockey, like no other state.  Well, except for Alaska.  Based on some dome survey, it looks like Alaska could be the official state of hockey.  I say poppy-cock to that!  

I mean look at how many hockey players there are in the state.  According the date from USA Hockey, Inc & the Census Bureau, our lovely state of MN has around 1,005 amateur hockey players for every 100,000 residents.  In comparison, the state of Alaska has around 1,152 players for every 100,000 residents.  The only difference is that our great state has just over 5.3 million residents, in comparison Alaska has about 700,000.
