Janis Joplin Show Coming to Broadway

Janis Joplin and friends are headed to Broadway for A Night With Janis Joplin. 

According to the New York Times, the late and iconic Janis Joplin is the subject of a new Broadway play.

A Night With Janis Joplin will touch on her rise to fame, her life, the influence she left behind and will feature her music including the great shower belter Piece of My Heart, Mercedes Benz as well as her version of Big Mama Thornton's Ball and Chain.

Mary Bridget Davies, the young lady in the title role is no slouch, either and has been playing Janis since 2005 when she starred in the off Broadway show Love, Janis and Janis's band Big Brother & The Holding Company has also brought her out on tour.

The show has already been touring around the country for the past two years and has garnered quite positive reviews so far. The show is set to make its quiet Broadway debut at the Lyceum Theater in September, with the official curtain night October 10.
