Kiss and Def Leppard both accepted Motley Crue‘s recent dare to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after their concert in Indianapolis last night — and as you can see in the video above, all nine musicians got doused at the same time.
In addition to each donating $10,000 towards ALS research, both bands got to challenge friends, peers and public figures to take the Ice Bucket Challenge as well. Kiss chose Elton John, Rod Stewart and somewhat surprisingly, author and alternative medicine advocate Deepak Chopra.
Def Leppard, meanwhile, challenged U2, Prince and Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale. Aerosmith, the third band publicly challenged by Motley Crue, has yet to respond to their invitation. Their next scheduled show is Monday night, August 25 in The Woodlands, Texas.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The Ice Bucket Challenge asks people to either film themselves getting dunked by ice water (and make a small donation to the cause) or to make a larger donation to the cause of finding a cure for this disease — and then challenge their friends to get soaked or pay up.
