The path to back-to-back championships for the Granite City Lumberjacks is almost clear. Just two games separate the Lumberjacks from repeating as the NA3HL League Champions.

The Granite City Lumberjacks came into this season as the reigning champions, and it certainly seemed like a repeat could be possible. The 'Jacks ended up winning their division by a single point, after going into the last weekend of the regular season trailing Rochester by a single point.

The first round of the playoffs saw Granite City take down the Mason City Toros, but they needed three games to get the job done. The second round saw Granite City take on the Rochester Grizzlies. That playoff series lasted only two games, and with the playoff win, the Lumberjacks were off to Missouri.

When the Lumberjacks arrived in Missouri for the playoffs, a round-robin playoff series saw Granite City face off against a team that had handled them earlier in the year in West Bend Power.

The Jacks handled business against West Bend winning 4-2 on Wednesday night.

Last night the Jacks beat the Gilette Wild 6 - 1, setting them up at the #1 seed in Pool A.

As the #1 seed in Pool A they will play on Saturday at 4pm against the #2 seed in Pool B, either the Louisana Drillers or the Northeast Generals.

If the Jacks win tomorrow they play for the Championship Sunday afternoon at 4pm.

It's been a fun season, and a fun run watching these young men compete night in and night out.
