Peter Falk who is best known for playing "Detective Columbo" passed away Thursday at his home in Beverly Hills. 

The "Columbo" series premiered on NBC in the fall of 1971. Falk took home an Emmy for his role in the shows first year and earned three more over the life of the series.

His memoir 'Just One More Thing' was published in August of 2003.

Falk suffered from Alzheimer's, but no cause of death has been released.
