The Timberwolves will not have Nicolas Batum playing for them this season.  Portland matched the 4-year $46 Million offer sheet the Wolves signed restricted free agent Batum to.  The Wolves tried to workout a sign and trade deal last week with Portland but no deal could be struck.  Batum is a 23-year old 6’8 small forward who averaged 13.9 points a game with the Blazers in 2011-2012.

The Wolves will now focus on officially signing free agent guards Brandon Roy and Alexey Shved.  The Wolves have agreed on terms with both Roy and Shved.  The Timberwolves have also showed interested in restricted free agent center Greg Stiemsma, unrestricted free agents forward/center Jordan Hill, shooting guards Courtney Lee and Ronnie Brewer and forward Anthony Tolliver.
