Earlier this month, Sammy Hagar surprised fans with news that he had an acoustic project coming down the pipe. Hagar is giving his fans a taste of what they can expect from that upcoming release ('Light Roast') with the above rehearsal video for his 2006 track 'Halfway To Memphis.'

Inspired by his performance at March's 'Acoustic 4 a Cure' event, 'Light Roast' sees Hagar and his longtime Wabos guitarist Vic Johnson performing new acoustic versions of some of his best-known songs.

A formal release date for the effort has still not been confirmed, although Hagar did note that the album will be available via his website in the near future. Hagar says that the process couldn't have been simpler.

“It was just me and Vic live in the studio with no overdubs. Just two guitars, sometimes one guitar, sometimes just one voice, sometimes two voices.”

In addition to a guest appearance on Ted Nugent's upcoming record, Hagar has a busy summer ahead of him. He will be touring with the Wabos while also performing with Johnson, his former Van Halen bandmate Michael Anthony and drummer Jason Bonham on a series of shows dubbed “A Journey through the History of Rock.”
