I’m just going to say what everyone is thinking. It sucks that Elton John is retiring. The guy is a musical legend. He’s been writing hit songs for nearly 50 years and no one does it quite like him. He even helped write the soundtrack to “The Lion King” which in my opinion, is one of the coolest soundtracks of all time.

But hey, you can’t blame the guy for throwing in the towel. He’s in his 70’s and he has a small child that he’d like to spend some time with at this point in his life. Personally, I always enjoy tribute shows to guys like Elton. Some of the best concerts I’ve ever been to have been tribute shows.

They’re cool because you get a chance to hear all the tunes from the artist they’re covering, but each musician is able to contribute his or her own unique touch to the music. That’s why I’m pretty excited that The Pioneer Place in St. Cloud is having an Elton John tribute show, entitled “Elton Songs.” St. Cloud’s most talented musicians will be gathering there to pay tribute to Sir John on May 12th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for only $32 a piece.
