The Vikings signed free agent linebacker Marvin Mitchell Tuesday to a contract. The 27-year old Mitchell was a 7th round pick by New Orleans in 2007 and played 4 seasons with the Saints before playing last season with Miami
The Vikings signed free agent cornerback Chris Carr Wednesday. Terms of his deal were not disclosed. Carr is a 28-year old 5’10 182 pound veteran who played 9 games in Baltimore in 2011. He had 19 tackles and 1 sack with no interceptions
The Vikings have been awarded 2 4th round compensatory picks in this April’s NFL Draft. The picks are 128th and 134th overall. The picks were expected by the Vikings but were announced Monday
The NFL has suspended New Orleans Saints’ head coach Sean Payton for one year as punishment for the team’s admitted use of a bounty system from 2009 to 2011. Payton was aware of the system, which compensated players for hits inflicted on opponents.
Payton’s suspension is slated to begin April 1.
