The Indians beat the Twins 7-5 at Target Field Monday night to open up a three game series. The Twins blew a 5-0, first inning lead in the loss.

Minnesota jumped ahead of Cleveland early thanks to RBI from Joe Mauer (double), Kennys Vargas (single) and a three-run home run from Oswaldo Arcia.

However, the Indians scraped their way back into the game with a run in the second inning, a pair of runs in the fourth, one more in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.

Kyle Gibson lasted just 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk before leaving with a no-decision. Brian Duensing took the loss for the Twins after giving up two runs in the sixth.

The Twins have now lost three in a row and four of their last five games. They will take on the Indians again tonight, with Ricky Nolasco getting the start against Cleveland’s TJ House.
