The Minnesota Twins (66-62) continued their recent surge by shutting out the first-place Houston Astros (70-58) 3-0 last night at Target Field. The win leaves the Twins just a half game out of the last Wild Card spot. Game-Two of the three game series is tonight at 6:10 in Minneapolis.

Kyle Gibson tossed 5 1/3 innings for Minnesota to get his first win since July 12th. Twins closer Glen Perkins had been out with lower back spasms since Sunday, but he came back to pitch a scoreless seventh inning with two strikeouts.

The Twins have now won seven of their last eight games.
