Twins Snap Skid With Win Over Sox Thursday
The Twins snapped a five game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Chicago White Sox Thursday night. The game began at 9:15 pm after a lengthy rain delay.
Josh Willingham’s solo home run gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but rookie starting pitcher Yohan Pino gave the lead back in the top of the third on a two-RBI single from Connor Gillaspie.
Pino settled down after that and ended up going seven innings while allowing just the two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and one walk issued. However, Pino received a no-decision for his effort.
The Twins tied the game at two in the bottom of the third on a Joe Mauer RBI single, then took the lead on a Mauer double in the bottom of the eighth that plated shortstop Danny Santana.
Minnesota hosts the White Sox again Friday night. Hector Noesi will start for Chicago against Minnesota’s Ricky Nolasco.
