Many times, where the Golden Globe goes, so goes the Oscar. That was not the case last night as U2 went home empty handed.

U2's song Ordinary Love from the film Mandella: A Long Walk to Freedom was nominated for Best Original Song at last night's Academy Awards, and U2 is no stranger to awards season. The song was also nominated for a Golden Globe and a Critic's Choice Award.

U2 took home the Golden Globe, but came up empty handed for the Critic's Choice and the Academy Award. Both of those went to Let it Go from the box office smash Frozen.

U2 also came up short in 2003 when they were nominated for Best Original Song for The Hands That Built America from Gangs of New York. They lost out to Eminem's Lose Yourself from 8 Mile.

By the way, U2 is releasing Ordinary Love on special 10 inch vinyl in time for Record Store Day 2014 April 19.
